Overview MYLÉ V4 Starter Kit

Today we will review a device from the American company MYLÉ VAPOR, which has recently seen the light of day in an updated version.

MYLE packaging

The device is sold in a small cardboard box the size of a cigarette pack (the same size, only smaller in thickness than the package with cartridges), but it is now much prettier: the front and side surfaces are covered with waves applied with transparent varnish, the device of your chosen color is shown on top, on the left are the logo and the name, at the very bottom is the standard warning about the dangers of nicotine (it will be here even if you buy only a battery pack without consumables), and in the center are the strength of the liquid in the cartridges and the main advantages of the kit.

The device is still available in two versions:

I got two sets in the latest configuration, and if you look closely, you can clearly see on the front side that they have different tasting cartridges.

On the back, in addition to the same nicotine warning, there are even more various warnings and restrictions on use (adults only and all that), a product barcode, liquid composition (as usual, propylene glycol, glycerin, flavors and nicotine), details and manufacturer's address, and that the device and cartridges are traditionally made in China. In addition, the names of the flavors that are inside the package are written on both sides.

On the top there is only a logo, but on the bottom there is a rather ingenious sticker with a check on the originality of your purchase. In order to find out if you have a fake in your hands, you need to pick up the lower left edge, peel off the top layer with the barcode and scan the revealed QR code. It will take you to a special site ac.mylevapor.com with authentication and will substitute the same 16 digits that are next to the QR code in the input field. The page on the site opened in Russian, but for some reason, instead of the standard “Move to the right”, the slider turned out to be a mysterious “Please move the biscuit”. In case of successful completion of the check, the inscription "Check successful" should appear and the bar will turn green.

Starter Kit Packaging

  • Box
  • Battery pack MYLÉ
  • User guide
  • Micro USB charging cable
  • MYLÉ PODS cartridges (4 pcs. in different flavors)

The cable, as usual, looks more like a mockery, but you can easily throw it into a bag or even a pocket and always carry it with you.

As I indicated above, I received two Starter Kits with cartridges at once. In the first one, besides a black battery pack and a short micro USB cable, there were four pods with these flavors:

  • TOBACCO (may also be called SWEET LEAF)
  • ICED MINT
  • MANGO
  • POUND CAKE

With a white device, the flavors look like this:

  • PEACH
  • PINK LEMONADE
  • RED APPLE
  • LEMON MINT

If you purchase the blue variant, it will contain:

  • ICED WATERMELON
  • ICED APPLE MANGO
  • ICED QUAD BERRY
  • TROPICAL FRUIT MIX

In addition to these three, there is also a fourth delivery option, which promises to appear on our market soon. It will come with a black, white, gold or rainbow battery pack and may be the most desirable option for many as it comes with empty cartridges that can be refilled with any of your e-liquids.

Appearance of MYLÉ

In the exterior of the MYLÉ V4, there were practically no changes compared to the V2 version: it's still outwardly very simple, but at the same time very elegant looking device, with its forms most reminiscent of iPhones of the fourth or fifth series. No buttons, only four indicator lights and a logo on the front, a lightweight plastic (black in the photo above) or aluminum (white) case, rounded corners, but at the same time clear, only slightly smoothed edges and a small thickness of the device. The only noticeable difference in the new version is the missing cutout at the top.

MYLE characteristics

  • Dimensions: 82 mm (height, with cartridge - 100 mm) * 19 mm (width) * 7.2 mm (thickness)
  • Weight: 18.4 - 19.8 g
  • Battery capacity: 240mAh
  • Cartridge volume: 0.9 ml
  • Approximate number of puffs (1 pod): 240

Of course, there are many more MYLÉ options than the black, white, blue and gold ones I mentioned above, but some of them are only sold as a Basic Kit, i.e. without cartridges. The full list of colors of battery packs produced by the company today is as follows:

  • MYLE Elite White
  • MYLE Gold
  • MYLE Hot Red
  • MYLE Cosmic Rainbow
  • MYLE Royal Blue
  • MYLE Jet Black
  • MYLE Classic Silver
  • MYLE Aqua Teal

If nothing has changed on the front, there are only indicators and a deep engraving MYLÉ, then on the reverse side the serial number has disappeared, which, apparently, simply spoiled the external conciseness of the design.

The device still charges via a micro USB port, but the manufacturer is already working on an update and the following devices will be equipped with Type-C. In the meantime, we have at our disposal a losing popularity, but still the most popular charging connector on the market that supports a current of 0.5 A. A full charge takes about 30-40 minutes, which is quite logical, given the tiny volume of the built-in battery of 240 mAh. Unfortunately, the electronics do not support usage while charging, so you won’t be able to use MYLÉ with the cable connected, you will either have to wait until the end of the process, or disconnect the wire each time to vape.

One of the key improvements of the device was a modified system for connecting cartridges. If in the first two versions there were latches that held the changer in place, then starting with the V3 version, a magnetic system is used: two magnets are inside the battery, two are in the cartridge. Voltage is supplied through two spring-loaded contacts, which may need to be wiped from time to time, despite the manufacturer's claims about Anti-leak Technology. Simply because condensation inevitably forms in any such pod systems. Somewhere in here, there is also the puff sensor that triggers the device: if you take a puff, you get a portion of the fragrant steam.

The LEDs on the front side have a simple and clear indication that allows you to track simple errors and the charge level. The lowest, blue, flashes three times when the pod is connected, indicating normal contact, after which it goes out and the green ones located above light up. By the number of burning lights, you can approximately find out the remaining battery charge:

  • ••• — from 100 to 46%
  • •• — from 45 to 11%
  • •— from 10% and below

When the battery is completely discharged, the lower green LED flashes 10 times and the device turns off.

During the puff, the blue LED lights up, after the end of the puff it goes out and green lights up for 10 seconds. That, in principle, are all possible options for  the device to display. There have been no changes here, everything is simple and clear.

Cartridges and flavors Vape Pods by MYLÉ

Characteristics of Vape Pods by MYLE

  • Pack of 4 filled pods Vape Pods by MYLÉ
  • Cartridge volume: 0.9 ml
  • Approximate number of puffs: 240
  • Strength: 20 or 50 mg / ml (2% or 5%)
  • Salt nicotine

In addition to the included cartridges that can be found in a set with one of the Starter Kit, MYLE VAPOR, of course, also produces a rather impressive range of flavors and refills with liquid from the well-known American manufacturer VGOD. On the official website of MYLÉ, I counted 17 (plus empty cartridges), but some of them are stuck in the SALE status and may no longer be produced, and the current list of pods that the distributor gave me is as follows:

  • Iced Apple Mango
  • Iced Watermelon
  • Iced Quad Berry
  • Iced Mint
  • Ice Coffee
  • sweet mango
  • Sweet Tobacco
  • Pound Cake
  • red apple
  • peach
  • pink lemonade
  • Lemon Mint

Cartridges are sold in packs of 4, the general style of the box is the same as that of the devices, but each flavor has its own characteristic color, which makes it easy to distinguish cartridges with different liquids. On the front side, you can find an indication of the strength (20 and 50 mg / ml are available), the name of the taste, the volume and quantity in the package (4 pcs.).

Inside the box, the cartridges are in a blister pack, which avoids possible leaks during transportation, and also protects refilled liquids from damage and banal evaporation.

In addition, each pod has a protective cap (in the color of the package, that is, according to taste) and a silicone plug (exactly the same in color) that covers the opening of the steam line. There is a small strip of absorbent material inside the plastic cap, so if you haven't vaped out a flavor but don't plan to use it for a while, you can safely insert the plug, put on the cap and put the cartridge away until the next time.

In the updated cartridges, as well as in battery packs starting from the V3 version, the manufacturer no longer uses a window to control the remaining liquid, but a translucent cap made of heavily darkened plastic. On the the manufacturer's many renders, it looks absolutely black and for a long time I seriously believed that nothing was visible through it. But in fact I never had any problems seeing how much was left inside. Inside, the horizontal winding is clearly visible, consisting of the so-called Spaced Coil (i.e., a spiral with discharged turns). Unlike MYLÉ V3, in the fourth version, as in the first two, "organic silica" is used as a wick, how it differs from the most common one, I can't say. But, apparently, the experience with cotton in the third version was unsuccessful, but I never had it, so I have nothing to say here. Another difference in design is one hole at the end of the steam line instead of two in earlier versions of the cartridge. But for air intake, on the contrary, two are used, instead of one, which is designed to exclude (or at least reduce the likelihood) the ingress of condensate from the winding to the contacts.

Air is drawn in from the outside through two small holes at the edges of the cartridge, i.e. where you won’t accidentally close them with your fingers, and then through a tricky system of channels in the lower half of the case, and only then it gets to the winding. What keeps MYLÉ pleasing from version to version is a really tight, cigarette puff.

The cartridge is installed on either side, the magnets in the battery and the pod are attracted and the changer is fixed in the battery pack. Compared to the latches in versions V1 and V2, the connection here is less rigid (which is not surprising), and there is a slight play in the mount. However, if you don’t specifically find fault with this, then when using it, it is almost invisible and does not cause any problems.

The upper part of the cartridge near the steam line is covered with a small plug, which can be picked up with something sharp and easily removed. A small rectangle of some kind of absorbent material is hidden under it, which is also part of the Anti-Leak Technology to prevent leaks.

Impressions

What is incredibly pleasing is the manufacturer's desire for development and continuous improvement. Yes, the device is still not perfect, but still the American company is striving to make it so, and at least slowly, but constantly working on it. And in its improvements, it focuses on the most important, in my opinion, parts - the cartridge and winding. That is, electronics updates are relegated to the background, but instead even the inconvenient cradle was almost immediately replaced by a more familiar and common micro USB. True, in recent years, Type-C has already become widespread, so the manufacturer promises to add it in the next revisions. I really hope that it will also be possible to vape while charging, this feature has long been supported by most devices on the market, and I personally really miss it in MYLÉ. In fairness, it must be admitted that the very tiny volume of the battery, even with a low current consumption, is replenished very quickly, in a little more than half an hour, which can easily be endured. And it doesn’t even matter at all whether you use a high-current connection from a mobile phone, or connect a battery pack to a low-power laptop port.

As for leaks, I can say that during my use I didn’t have any condensate on the contacts (even from large temperature changes, it’s cold outside now and many devices are leaking), or in the opening of the steam channel. True, a couple of cartridges were slightly "snotty" already in the blister packs, which, of course, is strange. Improvements in the blowing system have definitely paid off, I hope that the company managed to finally defeat the eternal problem of any vape device - the flowing liquid that you have everywhere. And for beginners replacing cigarettes, maximum simplicity and convenience will always come first. The only thing that can upset about the device is its price, including consumables. The current retail price is as follows: for the Starter Kit MYLÉ with four cartridges, in stores they are asking for €22, for the Basic Kit MYLÉ with only a battery - €19, a pack of 4 MYLÉ Pods - €15.
